I first came across this planted in the rose garden at Sissinghurst, where it is planted in wide drifts, and now love its bright purple flowers which go on and on and on

- Sow under cover in mid spring. Cover lightly. Seeds need darkness, so cover until germination occurs, watering sparingly until germination. Plant out after last frosts or in autumn. Can be direct sown in early May.
